BELOW
A caver gets separated underground, and the cave stops behaving like a cave β a 2D psychological horror descent.
Visit siteOverview
BELOW is a side-scrolling psychological horror adventure set in a realistic cave system that gradually reveals itself as something else entirely. This is the Phase 2 environment prototype β proven Phase 1 movement (walk, run, jump, crouch, coyote time, jump buffering) now set inside real cave geometry instead of flat rectangles, including a genuine vertical shaft descended via staggered ledges. No art, lighting, or story yet β those are later phases.
Who it's for: Playtesting whether the movement and a real vertical section feel good before the torch/darkness system and story content get built on top.
An early build with no art assets yet β every surface is placeholder geometry (procedurally jagged rectangles standing in for rock), and the player is a plain tinted rectangle. Whatβs being tested is whether movement and a real vertical descent feel good before lighting, story, and art get layered on.
Controls: Arrow keys / WASD to move, Shift to run, Space (or Up/W) to jump, Down/S to crouch. Touch: left half of the screen to move (left/right sub-zones), right half to jump (top) or crouch-hold (bottom).
