Overview

NIGHTSHIFT is a top-down survival roguelite in the vein of Vampire Survivors, set inside a prison hospital where inmates have secretly been used as subjects in an experimental medical programme. The player moves; everything else β€” aiming, firing, XP pickup β€” is automatic. This is the Phase 1 core-movement prototype β€” one character, one enemy, one weapon, and the full move/level-up/die/restart loop with placeholder shapes standing in for art.

Who it's for: Early playtesting on desktop and mobile to see if the movement, automatic combat, and level-up loop already feel good before more characters, weapons, and enemies get layered on.

An early build with no art assets yet β€” the player, enemy, and projectiles are all placeholder circles. What’s being tested is whether the core loop (move, auto-fight, level up, die, restart) feels good before characters, weapons, enemies, and story get built on top.

Controls: WASD / Arrow keys to move on desktop. Touch and drag anywhere on mobile β€” a virtual joystick appears under your finger. All aiming and firing is automatic.
